Creating a best-in-class travel program

Meet Adriana Magill:

Based in Canada, Adriana is an experienced Client Director for one of our top customers in the Life Sciences industry. She started her career in the hotel industry before moving to CWT to manage a broader range of travel categories including air, car, technology, and related trends. In a short time, and thanks to her passion and willingness to learn, she created a strong and trusting relationship with Danaher, a leading global life sciences and diagnostics innovator.

Life Sciences companies specific needs

Due to the complex and highly regulated pattern of the life sciences industry, every client requires a tailored approach that recognizes the unique needs of travelers, ranging from doctors and nurses to patients, researchers, VIPs, and guests. Expectations of life sciences companies also include faster innovation to track specific KPIs and benchmarking with industry peers to drive a data driven program.

Strategic collaboration and engagement

Adriana, alongside Global Danaher Travel Corporate team, transformed Danaher’s decentralized travel program spanning 16 independent operating companies and more than 30,000 travelers into one centralized global travel program across 58 countries. The traveler-centric approach built around key pillars of technology, safety, security, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I), duty of care, and strategic sourcing, delivered a best-in-class travel program.

An extraordinary achievement

The CWT team worked with Danaher to create customized marketing campaigns directly targeting travelers and tailored analytics to provide invaluable insights, enabling informed decision-making and continual program improvement. The team used innovative solutions to simplify processes, improve traveler engagement, and drive savings. Corporate standards and training programs enhanced performance in areas like airline agreements and policy compliance. Comparing the pre-centralized program of 2019 with the post-centralization figures of 2023, there has been a huge improvement: online adoption (air) increased by 27%, preferred hotel usage +26.4%, and preferred car uptake increased by 42%.

What makes this role at CWT so unique?

Adriana and the team play a pivotal global role, taking ownership and fostering collaboration with key stakeholders, internally and externally. Her responsibilities involve navigating numerous touchpoints and adapting to evolving requirements, keeping her engaged and responsive, moment by moment. Her work with Danaher goes beyond traditional travel programs as they seek new growth opportunities.
